Rick Doblin, David Nutt and More Global Psychedelics Leaders Gather in Latin America for LaPsyConf 2025

For the first time, Latin America will host a gathering of the world’s leading minds in psychedelics, mental health, and longevity. On October 8–10, Buenos Aires will become the stage for LaPsyConf, a three-day conference bringing together scientists, regulators, entrepreneurs, and investors to explore the future of therapeutic innovation.

Psychedelics at the Center of a Global Health Crisis

Mental health is now the leading cause of disability worldwide. Traditional systems are collapsing under the weight of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. LaPsyConf promises a different lens: science-backed, regulation-minded, yet rooted in ancestral knowledge and the natural world.

The program spans startup demos, masterclasses, immersive experiences, and an international policy forum — positioning Latin America as a new hub in the conversation on psychedelics, wellness, and human longevity.

A Roster of Global Heavyweights

Among the featured speakers:

  • Rick Doblin (U.S.), founder of MAPS and leader of Phase 3 MDMA trials for PTSD.
  • David Nutt (U.K.), Imperial College neuropsychopharmacologist, first to map the brain on LSD.
  • Christopher Timmermann (Chile/U.K.), head of Imperial’s DMT Research Group.
  • Spencer Hawkswell (Canada), CEO of TheraPsil, advocating for psilocybin access for end-of-life care.
  • Mara Gordon (U.S.), cannabis dosing pioneer and founder of Aunt Zelda’s.
  • Bia Labate (Brazil), anthropologist and expert on traditional medicine.

They’ll be joined by dozens more voices from across the Americas and Europe — crossing neuroscience, biotechnology, psychology, sexuality, climate activism, and the silver economy.

Latin America’s Moment

For decades, the global conversation around psychedelics has been dominated by the U.S. and Europe. LaPsyConf signals a shift: Latin America is stepping forward, not just as the site of ancestral plant medicine traditions, but as an arena for regulatory frameworks, biotech innovation, and international collaboration.
